Xiaomi just announced Redmi Note 4, the company’s latest smartphone in the Redmi series at an event in China. Vodafone offers immediate activation of new prepaid and postpaid connections with e-KYC

Vodafone India today announced that it will activate new prepaid and postpaid connections immediate using AADHAR-based e-KYC solution that requires just the AADHAR number of the person along with their fingerprint to get the Know Your Customer (KYC) details. Vodafone India said that it has developed a special app that enables retailers to activate customers using e-KYC. It will be available across 4,500 select Vodafone stores and Vodafone mini stores from Wednesday, August 24th, 2016. Beginning September 2016, this paperless validation and activation facility will be rolled out in all 10,000 plus Vodafone branded stores in urban and rural areas and also across all multi brand outlets, pan India, in a phased manner. Airtel rolls out Aadhaar based e-KYC solution for instant mobile connection activation

After Vodafone , Airtel has announced that it has started rolling out Aadhaar based e-KYC solution for instant activation of Airtel mobile connections, following the notification by the Department of Telecom (DoT). Under the Aadhaar based instant verification process, customers purchasing a new Airtel prepaid/postpaid mobile connection need to submit/verify their Biometrics (iris scan / fingerprints) at the Point of Sale. The details will be instantly matched with the UIDIA database and following the validation, the connection will be activated instantly in the name of the customer. Airtel said that it will enhance customer convenience and experience and the digital verification, which is fully secure, will also eliminate paperwork and benefit the environment. Nokia branded Android smartphones and tablets coming in Q4 2016

Samsung Gear VR for Galaxy Note7 with USB Type C goes official

Along with the Galaxy Note 7 Samsung has also announced an updated version of the Gear VR headset. It features a new touchpad and supports USB Type-C. The new Gear VR measures 207.8(W) x 122.5(L) x 98.6(H)mm and weighs 312g without the front cover. Samsung has widened the Field of View (viewing angle) from 96 degrees to 101 degrees for immersive video and gaming experience. The company is including a micro USB connector with the VR headset which will enable users to swap the USB Type-C connector. Samsung has not made any major changes in terms of design for the new Gear VR which will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 7, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+. The new Samsung Gear VR goes up for preorder starting August 3 for and will cost $99. It will go on sale on August 19.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor depending on the market, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), has a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Even though the invite just says to block the date, it also says that Samsung’s next flagship will be unveiled at the event.
