Apple stops paying iPhone royalties to Qualcomm

Image
Apple is withholding payments to contract manufacturers that are owed to Qualcomm until the legal dispute between the two companies is resolved. As a result, Qualcomm has slashed its current-quarter profit and revenue forecasts. The company has lowered its revenue guidance to a range of $4.8 billion to $5.6 billion for the fiscal third quarter from $5.3 billion to $6.1 billion. Apple had sued Qualcomm in January this year saying that Qualcomm has been charging royalties for technologies they have nothing to do with. Now Apple is withholding payments to those third-party suppliers, which those suppliers would then normally pay to Qualcomm. Earlier this month, Qualcomm responded to Apple suit over patent licensing and has also filed countersuit including charge of limiting performance of Qualcomm modem chips in iPhone 7. Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel of Qualcomm said, Apple is improperly interfering with Qualcomm’s long-

Moto Z2 Play surfaces in first press render

Image
First press render of Moto Z2 Play has surfaced online, after renders of Moto Z2 Force and other upcoming Moto smartphones surfaced recently. The image shows a similar design as last year’s Moto Z, but the fingerprint sensor is larger, similar to the Moto G5 series of phones to offer easy navigation using One button nav feature. It also shows dual-tone LED flash on the front. The render shows a slim design as the predecessor but there is a camera bump. There is also 16-pin MotoMod connecting port on the bottom part of the back along with a secondary microphone. This will feature a unibody metal design, similar to the predecessor. We still don’t have the specifications of the phone, but it could pack the same 5.5-inch 1080p display or the company might go for a slightly smaller 5.2-inch screen like it did with the Moto G5 Plus. It could be powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 and pack 4GB of RAM. We should know more details about the phones soon.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs, Price, Release Summary: What To Expect From The Most Awaited 2017 Xiaomi Flagship!

Image
Xiaomi Mi 6 is finally launching on April 19. Yes, it’s late, much later than what we had expected. Considering last year’s launch schedule, the Mi 6 is nearly 2 months late. But the company had a fair share of valid reasons to delay its launch, one of it being the delay in getting hold of the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm. If the phone was to be released early, like in February, sticking to the usual schedule, you would have probably had the Xiaomi Mi 6 Snapdragon 821 edition and not the 835 edition. Well, it didn’t make sense for Xiaomi to use SD821 on an important phone like the Mi 6 (unlike what LG did with its LG G6) and now, after patiently waiting for the past few months, the Mi 6 is here to meet us. Well, there’s still a couple of days left for the phone’s launch, but we know a lot about the device, thanks to the leaks in the past few weeks. In fact, the transition from a relatively unleaked Xiaomi Mi 6 to the popular — hot in the news — at least a new le

Leaked Poster Reveals Xiaomi Mi 6 Blue & Black Colors Along With Specs!

Image
Xiaomi Mi 6 is officially meeting us tomorrow, at 2 PM China time. Now, just a few hours before the release of the handset, the Mi 6 has been spotted in multiple color options along with its specifications. The Xaiomi Mi 6 Blue, White and Black variants have been revealed and these renders are in line with what we have seen in the past few weeks. The blue is definitely an interesting color addition to the lineup. Maybe we’ll see a metallic red version too in addition to this Mi 6 Blue version? As for the design, the display is flat and we can see four curved design at the back. So, this is what the company’s teaser was talking about a few days before. The renders also reveal dual cameras on the top left corner along with dual LED flash. The bezels look quite thin on the sides, but the top and bottom bezels are still pretty thick. Hopefully, the real phone would have a better front design, limiting the bezels on all the sides. We can also see the under glass ultrasonic

Twitter is getting rid of its default egg profile photo

Image
Twitter is getting rid of its iconic egg avatar. The micro-blogging site is changing its default egg profile photo and replacing it with a new non-gender specific silhouette photo. For the past seven years, everyone who has created an account on Twitter starts out with their default profile photo as an egg. Twitter said it was time to change the default profile photo asa it wants to encourage people to upload images that express themselves. The micro-blogging site also acknowledged that in recent years, the anonymous Twitter egg has become associated with abusive and harassing behavior on the social network. Twitter wrote in a blog post, Regardless, people have come to associate the circle head with masculinity, and because of this association, we felt that it was important to explore alternate head shapes.
