It was reported earlier this week that Apple will ditch the Lightning connector on the iPhone 8. Now, a fresh report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the next generation iPhone will retain the Lightning port. In addition, the iPhone 8 will adopt USB-C Power Delivery technology for super-fast charging speeds.

Kuo shared the details in his latest research note that was first reported by MacRumors. According to Kuo, all the three iPhone 8 models will support USB-C Power Delivery technology. Apple will adapt the tech to its Lightning design in the new iPhones using Texas Instrument’s power management and Cypress’s Power Delivery chip solutions, added Kuo. He said that USB-C port would enable faster data rates on the new iPhones than the maximum speed of USB 3 Lightning.

The new iPhones are expected to feature iris scanner, wireless charging and come with other major changes as it is Apple’s 10th Anniversary.
